Los Altos Senior Center Friday, 1 p.m.: Ice Cream social. Cost is $1.50 and reservations are required.

Aug. 17, 10 a.m.: UCSF Mobile Mammograph Van is scheduled to do screening from 10 a.m. to noon, and from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sign-ups are required.

Aug. 21, 1 p.m.: Birthday party with sing-a-long followed by cake and ice cream.

Future trips include: Aug. 6 - Big Sur Coastal Tour; Sept. 19 - Capitola Art Faire; Sept. 25 - Seniorama in Santa Cruz.

Mountain View Senior Center

The Los Altos Senior Center is located in the Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave., in Los Altos. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call 948-7483.

The Mountain View Senior Center is located at 266 Escuela Ave., Mountain View. For more information, call 903-6330. Following is a list of special events for the month.

Thursday, 10:30 a.m.: Library tour of the new Mountain View library. Discover how to find a book, magazine, CD or newspaper. Learn about computers and the Internet. The tour is free.

Aug. 16, 2 p.m.: Sunday dance in the Social Hall. Admission is $3 per person.

Aug. 23, 2 p.m.: Antique Sunday. Peter Meissner of Heritage Antiques will share his knowledge about antiques and collectibles. Bring an antique and get free advice.

Aug. 30, 2 p.m.: Video Sunday with the movie, "Conspiracy Theory." Admission is 50 cents.

Note: During the month of September, the main lobby display case is dedicated to the participants of the Mountain View Senior Center. Bring a picture of yourself when you were a baby or youngster. A contest will be held to see who can best match names with faces.
