CANNON TO CLASH: Joe Cannon of Los Altos Hills recently signed with the San Jose Clash of Major League Soccer. The former St. Francis High and Santa Clara University star is backing up David Kramer at goalie. Cannon previously played with the USISL's San Diego Flash, leading the A League in saves with 85.

EXPRESS EXCELS: The Los Altos Hills Express 18-and-under softball team wrapped up its season by winning the Joe Tufo/Diane Moss Memorial Softball Tournament Aug. 2 in Santa Cruz. The Express, comprised of players from Gunn and Palo Alto highs, edged the San Ramon Stompers 4-3 to take the tourney title. The Express went 6-0 on the weekend.

TEE TIME: The Young Life Golf Tournament will be held Aug. 31 at Los Altos Golf and Country Club. Registration begins at 11 a.m., with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Entry fee is $195 and includes lunch, a barbecue dinner and prizes. Entry forms are available at the Los Altos Golf Shop on Main Street or by calling Young Life at 813-5290.
