Town Crier Staff Report

For the second straight year, the Los Altos Pony League Baseball Yankees captured the North Santa Clara County Pony Division, which is comprised of 13 teams from five cities.

The start of the year was anything but smooth for the Yankees, who played only .500 baseball the first half of the season.

However, the team came alive during the second half of the season by winning 10 of its last 12 games to clinch the Los Altos title.

In the playoffs, the Yankees opened with a come-from-behind victory over the top Sunnyvale team.

A two-run double by Cody Himes' in the seventh led the Yankees to victory. The pitching of Will Norton, plus the hitting of J.J. Barsi and Matt Larkin (three hits each) also sparked the team.

The July championship game found the Yankees playing another Los Altos team - the Cardinals.

The lead changed several times, but the Yankees managed to pull out a 10-9 win.

Several Yankess contributed to the offensive attack, including Himes, Barsi, Larkin, Norton, Mark Daines and Kevin Cherrstrom.
