The event, running 3-6 p.m., is at the home of Bob and Susan Wayman, former site of the Adobe Creek Lodge and Country Club, in Los Altos Hills. For reservations or more information, call 948-7436. Classes for aspiring leaders Leadership Education Advancement, or LEAD, a community involvement education course sponsored by the Los Altos Community Foundation, is seeking participants for a monthly course aimed at persons interested in taking on a leadership role. Classes start in September at various locations in Los Altos and will be held once a month for eight months. This is the fourth year for the course. For more information or to receive an application about the course, call 948-8920, or e-mail: sttchwtch@aol.com LAH cleanup day set for Sept. 5 The town of Los Altos Hills is sponsoring a town-wide cleanup day from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 5. Residents may deliver their solid waste, non-recyclable trash, as well as recyclable materials and yard waste to several locations including: the Town Hall Parking lot; Magdalena at 280 (solid waste only); Foothill College parking lot C; Altamont Road at Black Mountain; Westwind Barn and Page Mill Road at Arastradero West. Each household may bring up to 30 gallons of construction debris, up to 30 gallons of household concrete or dirt. Yard trimmings must be less than 6 inches in diameter and less than 6 feet long. Friends of the Library used-book sale The Friends of the Library of Los Altos hosts its fall used-book sale from 10 a.m. on Sept. 12 and from noon to 3 p.m. on Sept. 13. The sale will be held at the Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave., Los Altos. On Sunday books are sold by the bag. Bags are $2 each at the door. Proceeds from the sale go to the library. Guide Dog puppies looking for homes The San Rafael-based organization, Guide Dogs For the Blind, Inc., is recruiting adults and youths to raise Guide Dog puppies. Volunteers are needed to teach puppies obedience, house training and social skills by providing home care and direction. The commitment lasts for about 15 months, after which the pup is returned to the guide dog school in San Rafael for formal training by licensed instructors.
