Sue Russ has spent the past 35 years in education as a teacher, a reading specialist, a teacher, a principal, a teacher and again as a principal.

The new principal for Almond School in Los Altos said she has never taught the same class level for more than two years.

She said she has switched positions to keep herself "energized" and "to see school from all points of view."

Russ, who has spent the past 33 years in the Los Gatos School District, is filling the vacancy left by former Almond School principal Linda Eckols, who transferred to Loyola School after Kit Cosgriff resigned.

The Los Altos School District Board of Trustees chose Russ as principal last May from among 33 candidates.

Russ served as principal at Blossom Hill School before coming to Almond.

She earned her bachelor's degree from Ball State University in Indiana and her master's degree from Stanford University.

Russ said she has no school goals at present.
