POOL SIDE: The Los Altos-Mountain View Aquatic Club is looking for new members ages 6-22. The club provides training in competitive swimming at Eagle Pool in Mountain View and Foothill College in Los Altos Hills. Tryouts will be held from 5-6 p.m. Sept. 14-16 at Eagle Park on the corner of Shoreline Boulevard and Church Street. Coaches and parents will be on hand to answer questions. POOL SIDE, PART II: The Peninsula-based SOLO Swim Club will be enrolling new members at 4 p.m., Sept. 11 at Burgess Pool in Menlo Park. SOLO is a year-round swim team for those ages 5-18. SPECIAL VOLUNTEERS: A new volunteer orientation will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Santa Clara County Special Olympics office, 5730 Chambertin Drive, San Jose. Coaches are needed for long-distance running, soccer, power lifting, ice skating and more. For more information, call (408) 267-2734.

TEE TIME: The Northern California Women's Corporate Open will be held Sept. 25 at Shoreline Golf Links in Mountain View. The 18-hole event is for amateur women golfers and will include a "Corporate Cup" competition for teams representing companies and businesses across Northern California. JOINING UP: The Mountain View Recreation Division has openings for softball, basketball and volleyball teams wanting to participate in the city's fall adult leagues. Registration fees range from $235-480 per team. Basketball referees are also needed and will be paid $16 per game.
