School officials said about 100 students enrolled in the first class of the upper school. A grade will be added each year until the 2001-02 school year with completion of grade 12. The upper campus will be held at the elementary school's site, 500 Saratoga Avenue, and the lower grades will move to a new campus at 4300 Bucknall Road. Harker is a private school that services a number of students from the Los Altos area. Sometimes dubbed as "Silicon Valley's High School," Harker integrates core curriculum with computer technology. Students also use computer programs can access teachers on line for help with assignments and have computer access to the school's 7,000-volume research library. Harker is a non-sectarian school that provides independent day programs as well as boarding programs for students in grades 3-8. |
