A colorful display of traditional and contemporary quilts, from members of the Peninsula Stitchery Guild, decorates the walls of the Los Altos Library through Nov. 6.

The Los Altos Library will offer several arts programs in October:

"Houston Ballet's Dracula: the role of Special Effects," a lecture, 1-2 p.m., Oct. 3.

"Picasso and the Weeping World," 7 p.m., Oct. 7, a lecture previewing a Picasso exhibit at California Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco.

Open mike poetry reading for teens, 7:30 p.m., Oct. 20.
