He gained entrance into those schools by contacting other water polo enthusiasts who helped him receive permission for his research.

The San Jose Sports Hall of Fame will honor former St. Francis High volleyball star Niki Hartley and the Central Valley Mercury soccer team at its annual induction ceremony Nov. 5. Hartley, now playing for the University of Florida, has been named high school female athlete of the year. The girls on the Mercury will be honored as amateur athletes of the year. The under-18 squad won its third straight national title over the summer, with locals Anna Kraus, Kati McBain (St. Francis) and Rachel Hoffman (Gunn) playing major roles.
