Sun is the chairman of the Los Altos and Shih-Lin Sister City Committee and is a frequent traveler to Taiwan. Shih-Lin is a major district in the Capital Metropolitan city of Taipei of the Republic of China. (It is like the district of Queens in the metropolitan city of New York.) Los Altos and Shih-Lin established their Sister City relationship in 1992. The 28 tapes are related to Chinese culture, food, music, fashion, martial arts and history. The tapes are produced and distributed by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission of the Republic of China on Taiwan. The narration of the contents of the tapes are bilingual in both Chinese Mandarin and English. Los Altos Library supervisor Catharine Fouts appreciated the donation by Sun and Sister Cities. She said the tapes will be useful additions to the library's collection that depict cultures around the world. The tapes are being categorized and will be on the shelves soon, she said. |
