All teens, grades seven to 12, are invited to read a poem they have written or a favorite poem at the Open Mike Poetry Reading at the Los Altos Library Community Room at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20. The coffeehouse-style atmosphere will include refreshments.

The reading is being held in conjunction with Teens Read Week, sponsored by the Young Adult Library Services Association, a division of the American Library Association. Sign-ups not required.

Other coming events at the library include a lecture on special effects in the ballet, Dracula, 1-2 p.m. Oct. 3; Picasso lecture/slide presentation, 7 p.m., Oct. 7.
