Town Crier Staff Report

The Los Altos Police are seeking community help in identifying a male suspect involved in two separate incidents of indecent exposure.

About 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 13, a woman told police she was walking in the area of Havenhurst and Truman avenues in south Los Altos, when the suspect approached in his car, said Sgt. Mark Macaulay of the Los Altos Police Department.

The suspect called to the woman, asking directions to a nearby hospital. The suspect had his shorts pulled down and was engaged in a sexual act. Then he drove away, police said.

The earlier incident happened about 3:30 p.m. Sept. 1. The man approached two 13-year-old girls on the campus of Blach Junior High School on the corner of Covington and Grant roads in Los Altos. The man sat down, exposed himself, masturbated and then "calmly" walked away, police said.

The suspect is described as a white male about 50 to 55 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall, and weighing about 150-166 pounds, with light brown or reddish hair, thinning with gray. The suspect wore glasses and may have a partially gray goatee, police said.

Los Altos Police have talked with members of the county-wide Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement task force asking if they know of anyone about this age and height.

"It doesn't fit anything they have," Macaulay said.

The man was in a red, four-door, compact car, police said. Since the suspect has a car, "He's pretty mobile," Macaulay said.

If anyone has information, call Detective Chris Fowlie, at the Los Altos Police Department, 948-8223.
