Boys soccer

The Pinewood boys soccer team entered the week still searching for its first league win. The Panthers lost 4-0 to Fremont Christian last Friday and fell 1-0 to Woodside Priory Oct. 6. This put Pinewood's record at 0-4 in the PSAL and 2-7-3 overall.

Andrew Hill has done it again. Los Altos High's top cross-country runner won his fourth meet of the season last Saturday in Clovis.

Hill captured the 3.1-mile Clovis Invitational with a time of 15 minutes and 45 seconds.

Teammate Steve Perry took 13th by clocking a 17:04. As a team, the Los Altos boys finished second with 87 points.

Mountain View edged Monta Vista 14-13 in overtime last Thursday in Cupertino.

Zack Mattos scored six goals for the Spartans, including one in the final second of regulation to force overtime. Jason Schmickrath added four goals for Mountain View (3-1 in league).
