SF cross country sweeps SLO meet

The St. Francis High boys and girls cross country teams both captured first place at the San Luis Obispo 5K Invitational last Saturday.

Leading the way for the boys was Eric Chaves, who placed second with a time of 16 minutes and 20 seconds. His brother Dan took fifth by clocking a 17:12. Teammate Charles Darius was seventh with a 17:21.

For the St. Francis girls, Angela Gumon was fourth (20:21). Other top Lancer finishers were Jessica Upson (sixth, 20:44), Ann Richards (eighth, 20:58) and Becky Simmons (10th, 21:09).

In other local action, Mountain View High's Tonia Giraud took 10th at the Center Meet Friday with a 20:32.
