Results from the Nov. 3 election left the Mountain View-Los Altos Union, Foothill-De Anza, Mountain View and Fremont Union school boards virtually unchanged, with all campaigning incumbents reelected.

At the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District, where four candidates ran for three, three-year terms, incumbent Sue Graham received the highest support with 31.3 percent of the votes. Incumbent Judy Hannemann followed close behind with 29.8 percent of the votes.

The race was close for the third seat, formerly held by Rick Bell. Newcomer David J. Williams squeaked by with 19.7 percent of the votes, just .5 percentage points ahead of Catherine J. Knipe, who won 19.2 percent of the votes.

"I was hopeful that I was going to win, but I wasn't expecting it to be that tight," Williams said. "The waiting was real nerve-racking."

The candidates are scheduled to be sworn in on at the regular board meeting Dec. 15.

Of the four candidates who ran for the one seat on the Foothill-De Anza Community College board, Edward "Sandy" Hay won with 40.3 percent of the votes.

He will fill the remaining four-year term held by Jay Jackman who resigned last July to move to Ithaca, N.Y. The term expires in the year 2000.

Pat Millar came in second with 37.3 percent of the votes. J. Elaine Lubich and Joseph J. Krackeler trailed with 11.9 and 10.6 percent of the votes respectively.
