The forum addresses the current countywide crisis in housing needs and supply, and the decline in the supply of affordable housing. Panelists include Joe Simitian, Santa Clara County supervisor, and Marlene Prendergast, executive director, Palo Alto Housing Corporation. The event also is co-sponsored by the Palo Alto chapter of the American Association of University Women. For more information, call 327-9148. 'Great Decisions' lectures announced The Los Altos main library, the local Leagues of Women Voters and the American Association of University Women are presenting another year of "Great Decisions" discussions, beginning Feb. 1, 1999. "Great Decisions," sponsored by the Foreign Policy Association, includes a briefing booklet which is the foundation of the series. The books will be available for distribution in January and cost $15. Participants must order and pay for them by Dec. 15. For those who want to attend but don't want to purchase the book, copies will be available at the library. Topics include the Information Age, the Asian financial crisis, Latin America and the U.S. role in the United Nations. The discussions are scheduled 10 a.m. to noon, every Monday in February and March, with the exception of Feb. 15. Lectures are held in the Community Room of the Los Altos main library, 13 S. Food-art exhibit subject of discussion Kay Payne, docent coordinator for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, reviews highlights from "A Feast for the Eye: Food in Art," a new exhibit at the M.H. de Young Museum, in a lecture set for 7:30 tonight at the Los Altos main library. The lecture is sponsored by the city of Los Altos, the Friends of the Los Altos Library and the Los Altos Arts Committee. Admission is free. Hidden Villa tribute to Josephine Hidden Villa, an environmental farm and educational center in Los Altos Hills, is planning a night to remember founder Josephine Duveneck to commemorate the 20th anniversary of her death. Peninsula Stitchery Guild treasure fair The Peninsula Stitchery Guild is holding a treasure fair for the discriminating shopper 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday at the Los Altos Youth Center, 1 N. CSA needs holiday volunteers Volunteer elves and holiday helpers are needed to donate their time and help with the Community Services Agency's annual holiday sharing program. Help is needed to sort and organize holiday food for distribution to low-income families, through Dec. 23, or in the holiday toy store Dec. 7 through 31.
