Egan to hold holiday fair

Egan Intermediate School will hold its annual holiday fair from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Dec. 11, in the school's multi-use room, 100 W. Portola Ave.

The fair will feature gourmet delicacies and hand-crafted items made by students.

A book fair will be held in conjunction with the holiday fair.

All book sale proceeds will benefit the school's library.

Clothing needed for holiday drive

The Los Altos-Mountain View Parent/Teacher Association Council will hold its annual holiday drive in support of Community Services Agency from Monday to Dec. 16.

Organizers said the drive will benefit about 950 needy families in Mountain View and Los Altos.

Collection boxes will be placed at local schools. Needed items include: new pajamas in sizes for newborns to age 12; new toys, dolls, games, Lego blocks, balls; repairable children's bicycles.

Teen items include toiletries, gift certificates, grooming supplies, radios and watches. Grocery scrip, money donations and food items are also needed.

All gifts should be unwrapped and in gift-giving condition.

Toy and pajama distribution to families begins Dec. 12. Food items are distributed year-round.

El Camino announces health scholarships

El Camino Hospital Auxiliary is offering health professional scholarships for the 1999-2000 school year.

Applicants must be permanent residents of Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills or Cupertino, who are enrolled or will be enrolling as full-time students in one of the following hospital related, health professional programs at an accredited California college or university: clinical laboratory technology, diagnostic imaging, dietitian, nuclear medicine technology, nursing, occupational therapy, pharmacy technology, physical therapy, radiation therapy, radiological technology and respiratory therapy.

Information nights at MV, LA Highs

To help parents become more familiar with local public high school programs, the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District will host a Parent Information Night at 7 p.m., Dec. 3 in the large gym at Mountain View High, 3535 Truman Avenue and at 7 p.m., Dec. 8 at the large gym at Los Altos High, 201 Almond Avenue. Administrators, staff, parents and students will be on hand to talk about the curriculum and extra-curricular activities offered at each of the schools.
