Los Altos sisters help Menlo School win tennis title

he Menlo School girls tennis team, which features twins Lauren and Tracy Cheung of Los Altos, won the Central Coast Section title Nov. 18. Menlo edged Santa Catalina 4-3 at Courtside Tennis Club. Lauren clinched the crown with a 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 win over Lisa Cummings at No. 3 singles.

Cross Country

The Mountain View High girls cross country team finished eighth in the CCS Division III championship Nov. 14 at Crystal Springs. Mountain View was led by Tonia Giraud, who took 18th. She ran the 2.95-mile course in 20 minutes, 37 seconds. Sujata Shyam (22:31) and Erin Hall (22:32), placed 42nd and 43rd, respectively.

Soccer

The St. Francis High boys soccer team opened its season last Thursday with a 3-0 victory at Watsonville. Dan Vakuso scored twice for the Lancers.
