The Board of Directors of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District has appointed Deane Little of Mountain View to fill the seat left vacant by the resignation of former member David Smernoff. Little will represent Ward Four.

Little is a biotechnology specialist who works with several Bay Area biotechnology companies. He holds a master's degree in biology and a doctorate degree in molecular biophysics, and has done extensive work in the environmental field and as a volunteer.

"I'm happy to bring my experience and perspective to the board in view of the major issues facing the District, including potential expansion to the San Mateo County coast, the continued acquisition of open space lands and the development of new funding sources," Little said.
