Residents are invited to attend the regular meeting of the Los Altos School District Board of Trustees 7 p.m., this coming Monday, at 201 Covington Road in Los Altos to learn more about the next steps for the facilities and construction bond measure approved by voters in November.that will fund construction and renovation at all eight of the district schools including the re-opening of Covington School.

The Long Range Planning Committee, which developed the original facilities master plan, will create an implementation plan during the next few months which will describe when renovation and construction will happen at each school. In addition, a districtwide committee will work with the district's demographer to evaluate and redesign elementary school boundaries to include Covington School and to equalize the sizes of the school.

The board will determine how to issue the bonds to ensure funds match the flow of construction as well as keep the impact on taxpayers at the rate promised in the ballot statement. Conceptual plans for each site will continue to be developed by the site level committees.

Major construction will not start an any of the existing schools until the summer of 2000.
