The girls volleyball team at Pinewood School has earned a 1998 Fall Season Scholastic Championship Team Award for posting the highest collective grade point average among Central Coast Section volleyball squads. The Panthers had a GPA of 3.7380, beating out Mount Madonna (3.5670) for the award. Pinewood team members included Sweetheart Ador-Dionisio, Katie Collins, Sarah Feely, Cheryl Ham, Sebnum Kimyacioglu, Elizabeth Marangell, Angie Riches, Lauren Smith-Hams and Erin Wilson.
What a racquet
The YMCA of the Mid-Peninsula, 755 Page Mill Road, Palo Alto, is organizing a winter racquetball league. The league, which runs Jan. 2-March 7, welcomes A-, B-, C- and D-level players. De Anza dropped
De Anza College had home field advantage, but the men's soccer team still couldn't beat Santa Ana Nov. 28 in the state semifinals. The Dons fell 2-1, ending their season with a 19-4-1 record. Their lone goal came from Juan Torres, who was assisted by Kevin Buss.

Sundancer Ski Club, a non-profit organization serving the Mid-Peninsula and South Bay, is recruiting new members for the 1998-99 ski season.
