A fine fall for LAHS
Published on 12/07/1998

This was a banner fall for Los Altos High, which sent six varsity teams to the Central Coast Section playoffs. The Eagles qualified in football, volleyball, girls tennis, boys water polo, boys cross country and girls cross country. The volleyball team advanced to the CCS final and the NorCal playoffs, while the water polo team made the CCS semifinals. The varsity and frosh-soph football and cross country teams won their respective leagues.

Road warriors

The Sunnyvale '87 Roadrunners recently placed second in the under-12 girls Class 1 CYSA District 2 Cup Championship. The Roadrunners fell 2-1 in the Cup championship to the Santa Cruz Panthers, who scored the game-winner with 30 seconds left. The Roadrunners are coached by Frank Medina, girls coach at Homestead High. About half the team is from Los Altos or Mountain View, including players Diana Decesare, Hayley Finkelstein, Alicia Incerpi, Stephanie Lee, Dawn Maxey, Jessica Pecota, Jenny Phan, Daniela Roark and Natalie Seufferlein.

Hill runs Foot Locker

Los Altos High senior Andrew Hill finished 112th at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships West Regional Dec. 5 at Mount San Antonio College in Southern California. Hill ran the 5,000-meter course in 17 minutes, 12 seconds. He was among the top 10 runners the first mile but then a leg injury slowed down the Central Coast Section Division III champ.
