Legato partners with Sun, Siemens

Legato Systems, Inc. of Palo Alto announced its collaboration with Sun Microsystems by supporting the open management storage platform, code named Project StoreX.

StoreX is an industry-wide initiative that will deliver a standard, open platform for storage software development in any environment that supports JVM, including the Windows NT and UNIX environments.

The announcement expands on Sun's existing strategic OEM agreement with Legato whereby Sun sells and supports Legato's storage management solution under the brand name Solstice Backup.

Legato and Siemens AG, Munich, Germany also announced expansion of their worldwide agreement to include the Legato GEMS product family. Under this agreement, Siemens has licensed source code for the Legato GEMS product family on both Windows NT and UNIX platforms, and will integrate the Legato GEMS product family into their Enterprise Storage Solution.

Both Legato (Nasdaq: LGTO) and Sun (Nasdaq: SUNW) are Town Crier Stock Index companies.
