Business input sought on economic development

Members of the Los Altos business community can give city staff their thoughts on managing economic development at an open meeting this Friday cosponsored by the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce and the Los Altos Village Association.

Geoff Ball, a Los Altos-based professional facilitator, will facilitate the meeting. City Manager Phil Rose will participate. Ideas generated will be presented to the city council.

The Los Altos City Council on Nov. 26 approved staffing an economic development manager position on a half-time basis. The position will be combined with a new half-time administrative analyst position.

Both the chamber and Los Altos Village Association have been advocating filling this position since it became vacant in October 1997, agree Tom Smith and Fred Sischka, presidents, respectively, of the chamber and the village association.

The meeting is scheduled for 8 a.m., Jan. 8, in Room A, Hillview Community Center.
