Friday: 11 a.m., the movie, "Titanic," will be shown, with a break in-between for lunch.

Jan. 12: 1:30 p.m., Kirk Dryden of the American Association of Retired Persons will discuss long-term care insurance. AARP meetings are held in the Cultural Arts Center, 1313 Newell Ave., in Palo Alto.

Jan. 15: Noon, monthly luncheon. Reservations are required. Cost is $4 with activity card and $6 without. Bingo is after lunch. Bingo cards are 3 for $1 and cash prizes will be awarded.

Jan. 22: 1 p.m., armchair travel with Lew Bachelor. Pretend it's summer again by taking a trip to bask in the sun in Hawaii and Tahiti. Refreshments will be served.

Jan. 27: 1 p.m., John Canneday of Essex Corporation will present a seminar on long-term care insurance. Topics to be covered include why you need long-term care insurance, current and future trends and alternative ways to finance long-term care.

Jan. 29: 1 p.m., Birthday bingo session celebrates January birthdays with cake, ice cream and music.

Mountain View Senior Center

The Los Altos Senior Center is located in the Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave., in Los Altos. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call 948-7483.

The Mountain View Senior Center is located at 266 Escuela Ave., Mountain View. For more information, call 903-6330. Following is a list of special events for the month.

Sunday: 2 p.m., Davido will perform folk, ragtime, comedy and country music. Admission is $1.

Tuesday: 11:15 a.m., an orientation and tour of the senior center is offered. An overview of classes, upcoming special events, social services and general information will be presented.

Jan. 17: 2-4 p.m., an afternoon of square dancing with caller Alfred Knoppe. Refreshments are available. Admission is $1.

Jan. 22: 9:30 a.m., Dr. Rachel Fronzenfar will give a free talk regarding chiropractic services . Topics include general back safety, nutrition, exercise, and ergonomics at home and work.

Jan. 23: 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., a free glaucoma adult vision screening. The screening will be presented in conjunction with a resident ophthalmologist from Stanford University Medical Center.

Jan. 24: 2 p.m., photographer Tom Hahn will take a journey into the Himalayas and travel up the road to the Tibetan border. Cost is 50 cents.

Jan. 31: 2 p.m., Sunday movie "Red Corner," staring Richard Gere, presents the story of an American attorney in China accused of murder.
