New TC section needs a name

printer friendly version Print this story

The Town Crier is planning to introduce a new special section this year dedicated to the interests of Los Altos youth. We need a name, something that appeals to children and teens today. What we are trying to avoid is the use of the term, "kids," which some perceive as a put-down.

So, we are holding a contest for naming our new youth section. The winner gets a pizza party for four, courtesy of the Town Crier. Here are some general rules: The title should not be more than two or three words; acronyms are acceptable; entrants should be no older than 18.

We are also soliciting ideas for what should be in the section. It could include contests, video or movie reviews, best computer games or favorite Web sites, but we'd rather collect ideas from you.

Submit your suggested name and any ideas you might have for the section to: Bruce Barton, editor, Los Altos Town Crier, 138 Main St., Los Altos 94022. You may also e-mail suggestions to: towncrier@losaltosonline.com or fax them by calling: 948-6647. Please include your full name, address and phone number. The deadline for submissions is Jan. 29.
