Town Crier Staff Report

Los Altos police made an arrest following a noontime traffic accident last Thursday at Foothill Expressway and Main Street, the first of three injury accidents in Los Altos last week.

The first accident happened when a driver traveling east on Foothill Expressway failed to stop for a red light.

A driver heading into downtown Los Altos on Main Street struck the first car.

Police arrested the driver who ran the light, Julie Moeller, a 40-year-old Mountain View resident, who was then booked into the county jail, police said.

Moeller had a felony warrant for hit and run, and she was driving on a suspended license, said Sgt. Mark Macaulay, with the Los Altos Police Department.

The driver of the second car, Mary Gause, 66, of Los Altos Hills, was taken to Stanford hospital. She complained of back and neck pain, police said.

Traffic lights at the intersection were damaged and signals were not working for several hours after the accident.

Less than 24 hours later, another injury accident happened at 8:46 a.m. on Friday at San Antonio Road and Whitney Street.

According to police, the driver coming from Whitney failed to yield to the driver on San Antonio Road.

A 46-year-old Los Altos resident and a 33-year-old Mountain view resident each sustained some bumps and pains but declined medical treatment, police said.

On Saturday, another noontime accident happened, on Los Altos Avenue at Mt. Hamilton Avenue, when a 39-year-old Mountain View woman apparently suffered a seizure and drifted onto the paved shoulder.

She was treated for a seizure at the scene and also complained of chest pain, police said.
