Defensive lineman Benard Thomas, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound junior, was voted second team All-State Underclass. Offensive lineman Gabe Garcia, a 6-foot, 235-pound senior, earned special recognition for the All-Northern California team. Grade-A athletes Los Altos High athletes not only found success on the field, but also in the classroom this past fall. Nineteen of the school's 300 student-athletes earned 4.0 grade-point averages the first quarter and another 81 had GPAs above 3.5, according to athletic director Monica Lodge. On the air Those who don't want to drive all the way to San Francisco to see the St. Francis High boys basketball team take on St. Ignatius this Friday can watch the game on cable television. The West Catholic Athletic League match-up will be featured on BayTV's "Friday Night Hoops" starting at 7:30 p.m. Dennis O'Donnell will call the play-by-play and Anthony Robinson will provide analysis. BayTV is channel 35 on most Bay Area cable systems. All a-board The Los Altos Recreation Department has announced details of its 1999 snowboard season. Four day trips are set from January through March. The season kicks off Jan. 30 with a trip to Kirkwood. On Feb. 27 the group heads to Northstar-at-Tahoe. The last two trips will be on March 13 and 27. Cost for each trip is $70 and includes an all-day lift ticket, chartered bus transportation and supervision.
