Tryout to be a Menace

The Mountain View-Los Altos Menace, an under-11 Class 1 CYSA girls soccer team, is holding open tryouts Feb. 6 and 7 for skilled players born after July 31, 1988. The team, coached by Karen Chili, went undefeated this past season. For tryout times, location and more information, call 949-4055.

Call for coaches

Mountain View High needs a coach for junior varsity boys tennis. For more information, call Barbara Kaufman at 940-4626. Gunn High is seeking a junior varsity softball coach and a junior varsity boys tennis coach. For more information, call Steve Ames at 354-8214.

Bike rides for seniors

The Bicycle Outfitter sponsors free bike rides for seniors at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday and Thursday. Rides start at the shop, 963 Fremont Ave., Los Altos. Seniors of all ages and riding levels are welcome. Non-seniors can came along for the ride as well. Rides last for about two hours. For more information, call 948-8092.

Special volunteers

The Santa Clara County Special Olympics is seeking volunteer coaches for basketball, track and field, golf and other sports. There's also a need for people to coordinate awards at the competitions. There will be a new volunteer orientation at 7 p.m., Feb. 9 at the Special Olympics office, 5730 Chambertin Drive, San Jose. For more information, call 408-267-2734.

Hit the slopes

Sundancer Ski Club, a non-profit organization serving the Mid-Peninsula and South Bay, is recruiting new members. Alpine and Nordic skiers and snowboarders are welcome.
