The Santa Clara County Library System, which includes the Los Altos and Woodland libraries, started 1999 with two national honors.

Susan Fuller, County Librarian, was honored as librarian of the year for 1998 by Library Journal.

Her picture was featured on the cover of the January 1999 issue.

In addition, American Libraries, the magazine of the American Library Association, listed the Santa Clara County Library System seventh among all public libraries in the over 100,000 population category.

This was the only system in California among the top 20.
