The United Systems of Independent Soccer Leagues (USISL), which the local Silicon Valley Ambassadors are a part of, has changed its name. The organization is now called the United Soccer Leagues. Commissioner Francisco Marcos, who founded the USISL in 1986, said the new name reflects the growth of the league. It started as a five-team indoor league in the Southwest and now has 135 teams in 41 states. The Ambassadors, a men's minor league team that plays at Foothill College, opens its second season this spring.
