Jewish school hosts costume ball
Published on 02/08/1999

The Mid-Peninsula Jewish Community Day School will hold a costume gala from 7:30 p.m. to midnight, Feb. 27 at the newly refurbished Crowne Plaza Cabana, 4290 El Camino Real in Palo Alto.

When things looked grim for the Jews in ancient Persia, Queen Esther- who was secretly a Jew - threw a party for the king to lobby him on behalf of her people. Her gala affair helped spare the Jews from extinction. The school's Purim Ball will revel in that ancient spirit.

The ball is the annual benefit for the school, which teaches all strands of Judaism.

The event will include a kosher buffet, dancing, a casino, and a raffle. Party-goers are encouraged to come dressed as their wildest fantasy, organizers said.

Tickets are $50 per person, $60 at the door. Sponsorships for the ball are available. The ball is limited to 700 guests. For more information, call 424-1991.
