Situation: Coast Conference play comes to an end this week, so Foothill's chances of finishing among the conference's top three teams could hinge on this game. The Owls were 5-2 in the conference when the Town Crier went to press last Friday and 14-12 overall. The rival Dons were 3-4, 8-16. What to Watch For: How Foothill handles De Anza's 6-foot-7 center John Smith, who scored 21 points against the Owls earlier in the season. Foothill, which isn't blessed with a lot of size, will try to counter with 6-foot-5 power forward O.J. Longmire. Also keep an eye on frosh guard Randall Powell, perhaps the Owls' most exciting player. Recent History: Host Foothill eked out a 69-66 victory over De Anza Jan. 27. Coach Todd Petersen said his Owls were lucky to win, as they allowed the Dons to battle back from two huge deficits. Foothill led by as many as 20 in the first half and held an 11-point edge with 45 seconds remaining. |
