Masonic Lodge evening program

Los Altos Masonic Lodge is sponsoring a series of after-dinner programs during 1999, and the public is invited. The next program is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. this coming Monday. Titled "Health, Healing, and Preventive Medicine," the program features Naturopathic Dr. Nancy Worthington. The presentations will be held in the downstairs dining room of the Lodge, at 146 Main St., Los Altos.

Other programs will also be held downstairs on the first Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m., and will be announced. Plans for the year include: Fire Prevention and Safety, Earthquake Preparedness, First Aid, and the Kids Identification Program sponsored by the California Masonic Grand Lodge. League addresses housing issues

The League of Women Voters of the Los Altos-Mountain View Area welcomes the public to its special interest group program on housing, scheduled for today. The event will feature representatives from the cities of Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and Mountain View who will speak briefly and then answer questions from participants.

Discussion will focus on issues such as low income housing, commuting and transportation problems, housing density, land use practices, state, county and local housing requirements and ordinances, and open space.

The program titled, "Housing in Los Altos, Los Altos Hills & Mountain View: A Report on What's New and Where We are Going," will take place from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave., Los Altos (off of San Antonio Road). History House presents 'Music & Memories'

"Music & Memories," a collection of oral history readings with period music, will be presented from 2-3 p.m., March 20, at the Los Altos History House Museum.

Music by Paul Price will include 1926 Victor recordings of the Stanford Marching Band. Admission is free.

The History House is located in the Los Altos Civic Center area at 51 S. San Antonio Road behind the Main Library.

Adoption Workshop meets in Palo Alto

Meet eight families who have successfully adopted babies and children from Russia and Eastern Europe from noon to 3 p.m., Saturday, at the Adoption Workshop. The workshop is being held in the Palo Alto Jewish Community Center at 655 Arastadaro Road, in Palo Alto.

Hear from adoption professionals, meet the kids and parents and find out about costs and financial assistance. The workshop is free and child care is provided. A donation of unopened children's multi-vitamins with iron is requested.

Humane Society spaying, neutering

The Humane Society of Santa Clara Valley offers spay-neuter surgery for half-off to help with pet overpopulation, prevent certain types of reproductive cancers and decrease chances of pets wandering away from home in search of a mate.

Donate your car to American Red Cross

The American Red Cross in Palo Alto, has initiated a vehicle donation program to generate funds for disaster preparedness and health and safety services in the community.

The Red Cross is accepting contributions of new and used, running or not, automobiles, small pick-up trucks and sport utility vehicles. A free pickup will be arranged and a tax-deductible contribution will benefit the donor as well as the Red Cross.

Daughters hold workshop

The Daughters of the American Revolution encourages guests to attend a series of upcoming workshops and find their early American ancestors. Workshops will be held the first Wednesday of every month on March 3, April 7, May 5 and June 2.
