LAH clean-up slated for this Saturday at five locations

The town of Los Altos Hills and the Los Altos Garbage Company will hold a clean-up day, 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., this Saturday, at five locations in the town.

The locations are: the town hall parking lot at 26379 Fremont Road; Parking Lot C at Foothill College, 12345 El Monte Road; Magdalena Road at Interstate 280 (solid waste items only); Westwind Barn at Altamont and Black Mountain roads; and Page Mill Road at Arastradero Road.

In order to verify eligibility, residents will be required to show a driver's license to a representative of the Los Altos Garbage Company.

Solid waste and recyclables will be accepted. Solid waste includes all non-recyclable materials, with a limit of 30 gallons per household of debris resulting from construction or demolition of buildings; and up to 30 gallons per household of concrete, asphalt, rock and dirt.

Recyclables include yard trimmings less than 6 inches in diameter and less than 6 feet long; clean (unpainted and untreated) wood; scrap metal and white goods (such as refrigerators and stoves) which have the Freon and element removed.

No hazardous or toxic materials will be accepted. Participants will be limited to two standard truck loads of debris. For more information, call the Los Altos Garbage Company at 961-8040.
