Easter egg hunt set for this Saturday

Local children can meet the Easter Bunny at 10 a.m., this Saturday, and go egg hunting along Main and State streets in downtown Los Altos through the annual Easter event put on by the Los Altos Village Association.

The event also includes such activities as bunny ear hat-making, face painting and a special appearance by the Happy Birds, a performing parrot show. Pets also will be available for adoption at 9:30 a.m. in the Community Plaza, located at State and Main streets.

Children will have the opportunity to hunt for thousands of eggs filled with candy and gift certificates. Children aged 1-6 look along Main Street, while children aged 7-10 search along State Street.

Novelist at MV library

Novelist Laurel Doud, author of the acclaimed new book, "This Body," makes an appearance today at the Mountain View library to offer her experiences in the world of authorship and publishing, as well as insights on the art of writing.

The talk, free to the public, takes place at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the library, 585 Franklin St. For more information, call 903-6887.

Help needed for Chefs Who Care

The Community Services Agency is looking for two volunteers who can lead its long-standing Chefs Who Care fund-raiser.

The program, in which restaurants contribute proceeds to the agency through a once-a-month Monday dinner, is currently in limbo with the lack of help.

The project involves working with agency staff members and volunteers to secure restaurant participation and prepare for mailing fliers.

Women Voters fund-raising drive

Members of the League of Women Voters of the Los Altos-Mountain View area are holding their annual League-A-Thon drive.

Community donations assist the league in providing voter education through candidate forums, election hot lines, public meetings on issues and publications such as "Facts for Voters."
