At two homes, burglars entered vehicles, took the garage-door openers and then used them to get into the garages and burglarize other vehicles, Sgt. Mark Macaulay said. One resident told police she heard something about 4 a.m., but that she didn't see anything. Residents on Covington Road and Campbell Avenue each reported they had a car stolen. One of the cars, a BMW, was recovered about 6 p.m., March 18, near the intersection of Story and White roads in East San Jose, police said. "It was not burned or stripped," Macaulay said. "But it is not known if there is interior damage." As of March 19, the second car stolen, a Mercury Villager van, had not been recovered, Macaulay said. Officers patrolling the area of the burglaries found a vehicle that had been reported stolen in San Jose, police said. Police invite anyone who saw or heard anything to call Officer Mark Laranjo, at 948-8223. |
