Los Altos Police issued a bulletin on Monday regarding attempted child abductions in Palo Alto and Fremont, as an advisory to Los Altos residents.

"There have been no attempts here," said Los Altos Police Chief Lucy Carlton. "But it is in close proximity, and we want to give parents a 'heads-up.'"

On March 8 Fremont police investigated the attempted abduction of a 5-year-old boy, police said.

On March 10 a 9-year-old Palo Alto girl reported that a white female attempted to lure her off the school yard at Addison Elementary School in Palo Alto. The girl later reported that the sketch she was shown seemed similar to the woman who approached her.

Also on March 10, a parent-playground monitor at Fairview School in Palo Alto reported a suspicious car parked near the perimeter fence to the campus, about 12:15 p.m. A white man and woman were in the car. The car left as the parent approached, police said.

When shown the sketch, she said the woman looked "similar" to the person she saw, police said.

"There are no indications anything like this has happened in (the Los Altos) School District," said Sgt. Mark Macaulay. "And Palo Alto has had no further incidents."

Police said the female subject is described as 15-30 years old, medium height, medium weight, reddish/blonde hair to mid chest.
