Blue-ribbon group considers city funding

The Los Altos City Council appointed a 29-member blue-ribbon committee at its March 23 meeting. The group will identify community needs and funding alternatives, said City Manager Phil Rose, in a staff report.

The group also will evaluate basic city service levels and projects, review the city's existing and projected financial position and consider new revenue sources, Rose said.

The group includes four former mayors, Marge Bruno, Ruth Koehler, Roy Lave and Dave Reeder. Also on the committee are Kurt Ayers, chairman of the traffic advisory task force; Conrad Heintzelman, downtown businessman; Dennis Young, chairman of the Sherwood Gateway Specific Plan task force; Tom Anderson and Marla De Broekert of the Los Altos Homeowners League.

All 29 of those who applied for the committee were appointed, said Mayor Lou Becker.

"We did indeed get a blue-ribbon committee," Councilman John Moss said.
