Flower show set for Saturday
More than 1,000 rhododendrons will be in full bloom at the American Rhododendron Society De Anza show and sale, set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., this Saturday, at the Community Plaza, corner of Main and State streets, in downtown Los Altos.
The show will feature exhibits of plant species and hybrids by growers and planters, educational materials, lectures and a plant sale. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the horticultural work by members of the society. The show is free. For more information, call 964-6280.
MV parade this Saturday
Mountain View's 21st annual downtown parade gets under way at noon, this Saturday, along Castro Street, from Evelyn Avenue to City Hall. This year's theme is "Back to the Future."
Pippi the Clown is scheduled to entertain in Pioneer Park, directly behind City Hall, following the parade. Other activities include carnival games, face painting, crafts and food.

Yard sale in MV
The city of Mountain View is holding its fourth annual community yard sale, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 8, at Rengstorff Park, 201 S. Rengstorff Ave. The event involves residents selling garage-sale type items in a festive park setting.
Those looking to sell items (no new or handmade) can sign up at the Mountain View Community Center, 201 S. Rengstorff Ave. Cost in advance is $15 for a table, $5 without.
In addition to the yard sale, there will be live entertainment by the Wendy Waller Band. The band will perform 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Electronic music subject of lecture
Electronic music specialist Cory Cullinan will give a lecture and demonstration at 7:30 tonight, in the Community Room of the Los Altos Library, 13 S. San Antonio Road.
Cullinan, a recording artist and head of the music program at the Pinewood School in Los Altos Hills, will demonstrate how to write and perform electronic music using a variety of electronic tools, computer software and synthesizers.
The free lecture is sponsored by the city of Los Altos, the Friends of the Los Altos Library, and the Los Altos Arts Committee.
