The 24th annual Los Altos Rotary "Fine Art in the Park" highlights a fun-filled May 15-16 weekend in Los Altos that also includes the May 15 Kiwanis Pet Parade.

Art show festivities, which include a variety of children's entertainment, are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., May 15 and 16, in Lincoln Park near downtown Los Altos.

Children's stage performances begin with "Cotton Candy Express," from 11:15 a.m. to noon, and 1:30 to 2:15 p.m., both days. Organizers said this high-energy musical concert is designed to open the imagination of young minds to the wonder of science and math through interactive music, fun and games.

Other children's stage entertainment includes the following on both days: Jay the Juggler, noon to 12:45 p.m. and 2:15 to 3 p.m.; magic tricks by Tim O'Connor, 12:45 to 1:30 p.m. and 3 to 3:45 p.m.; balloon creations, noon to 2 p.m.; and face painting, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will also be a variety of food and drink, and live music plus an incredible display of fine art and quality craftwork by juried artists for everyone to enjoy.

The annual Pet Parade, which draws thousands to Main and State streets in Los Altos every year, gets under way at 10 a.m.

Following the parade is the annual Town Crier pet parade contest at the Community Plaza, at the intersection of State and Main streets.

Proceeds from the art show benefit charitable projects and organizations such as the Rotary AIDS Project and the Community Services Agency.
