Tom Pamilla, executive director of the Los Altos-Mountain View Community Services Agency, resigned last week after serving in the position for more than 12 years.

The Community Services Agency recently presented Pamilla with a "Hometown Hero" award earlier this year at its volunteer awards breakfast.

"Working in this area has been a wonderful experience. It's been the greatest time in my life," Pamilla said.

"The community helped shape my vision, and it's been an honor to serve in this type of community.

"I'm leaving a wonderful staff and a great board of directors," he said. "Working with these people provides a springboard for creativity. This is a very viable agency represented by people who care."

However, Pamilla indicated his internal clock is ticking, telling him that after 12 years, it is time to move on.

Pamilla will be moving to San Diego where he has purchased a house with more land. His son will be attending the University of California at Santa Barbara in the fall. Pamilla is in the process of looking for a high school in San Diego for his daughter.

Pamilla continues in his present position until June 30. He has offered to return in July if the agency's board of directors needs his help in training his replacement.
