For the fourth year in a row, the Foothill College men's tennis team will face Southern California powerhouse College of the Desert for the state championship.

The match will be played at 11 a.m., tomorrow at Blackhawk Country Club in Danville.

College of the Desert has won two of the previous three meetings, including last year's final. And Foothill coach Tom Chivington said his team is the underdog again this year.

"They're the big favorite," said Chivington, who's guided the Owls to 13 state crowns, "but you never know what can happen with the match ups."

Foothill (16-6) advanced to the championship by beating Fresno 5-2 April 28 in Modesto.

Ben Phipps placed second in the 200 butterfly at last Sunday's state finals, clocking a 1:56.31.
