Towle is noted for her use of color and transparent images that make her canvases appear to be made of glass. "I firmly believe opposites attract, in life as well as in art," she said. "I look for disparity in texture and tone and make them work together. Towle's work will be available at the Los Altos Rotary "Fine Art in the Park" from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., both days. Lincoln Park is located at the corner of Foothill Expressway and Main Street in downtown Los Altos. The show also features a variety of food, premium beer and wine, music and children's entertainment. In conjunction with the art show, judges from the Los Altos art community have selected 10 winners from the eighth annual "Young at Art" competition. Two winners each were selected from Los Altos, Mountain View, Pinewood, St. Francis and Alta Vista high schools. "Young at Art" competition is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Los Altos as part of the Fine Art in the Park show. The 10 winners will be announced at the show and their works displayed in the Lincoln Park gazebo. Prior to the show, the students' artistic works will be displayed at Le Boulanger restaurant in Los Altos. First-place winners receive $120 checks from the Rotary Club of Los Altos and second-place winners receive $80. In addition to Meyer, judges were Steve Bonnell, Dana James, Hardy Jones, Ingrid Jackson-MacDonald, Jan Meyer and George Perham. For more information, call 562-1195. |
