Local author Patricia Albers will speak about her new book, "Shadows, Fire, Snow: The Life of Tina Modotti," at 7 p.m. next Tuesday in the Los Altos Library Program Room. She will also show slides and sign copies of her book. Some have called Modotti "the best known unknown photographer of the 20th century." She was also friends with noted artists and photographers of the day in California and Mexico City.

The Los Altos History House Museum is presenting the event in celebration of International Museum Day. Books will be available in advance through Heintzelman's and History House. For more information, call 948-9427.
