Police said the robber got away "with an undisclosed amount of cash." The robber is described as a man in his 20s, 6 feet tall, about 180 pounds. He was wearing black sunglasses, a black jacket, black pants, a black baseball cap. He had a braided ponytail, police said. No weapon or vehicle was seen, police said. Two separate cases of men approaching kids In two separate incidents this past week, juveniles reported to police that they were approached or followed by an unknown man. Last Friday, two juveniles walked to the police station and reported that a man in a classic 1965 white Mustang convertible was following them. The youths had been at Baskin and Robbins in the 200 block of State Street in downtown Los Altos. The driver was described as in his 20s, with a ponytail. Two days earlier, in a separate incident, a man approached two boys at the Adamant Mart on Los Altos Avenue about 6:28 p.m. on May 5. Police do not see a connection between the two events, said Los Altos Sgt. Mark Macaulay. Traffic around schools subject of meeting The Los Altos City Traffic Advisory Task Force will hold a public comment session 7-9 p.m., May 19, on traffic safety around the schools. The meeting will take place in Room A at Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave. The task force invites parents and other residents who have concerns about traffic safety to a public hearing on May 19, from 7 to 9 p.m., in Room A of the Hillview Community Center. Prompted by some parent complaints last year, the task force added a 1999 goal to study traffic safety around Los Altos schools and to recommend improvements, said Councilman King Lear. - Town Crier Staff Reports |
