But this year's graduating class may find itself wondering where the party will be held rather than what's behind the quad's walls. For the first time since parents created the alcohol-free event in 1961, it will be held off-site. The quad is scheduled for demolition as part of the district's renovation plan to replace the existing area with a multi-purpose building and library. "We had little notice, but we're scrambling to make it happen," said parent Shelley Boutacoff. She said a committee of parents is currently making decorations and raising money for the event, which will require the rental of an off-site facility and eight buses to transport students to and from the event. She said the added expenses have also raised ticket prices to $99.99 per student, increasing the number of students who will require some scholarship support to attend the event. Boutacoff said this year's event will include all of the fanfare of previous celebrations. If you are interested in making a contribution for this year's Grad Nite, call 941-3746.
