Town Crier Staff Report

The Silicon Valley Ambassadors regained first place in the US Open Cup qualifications last Friday by beating the Central Coast Roadrunners. 2-0 at Foothill College.

Fueled by last week's 4-1 win over the Ambassadors, the Roadrunners started strong, making for a balanced first half. In the10th minute, Chowanda Bandu found himself alone with Mike Karr, but the Ambassadors goalie made a "fingernails" save.

Eight minutes later, Ambassador Anthony Chimienti penetrated the Roadrunners defense on the right side and passed the ball parallel to the goal, where Jorge Martinez put it into the net.

The score remained 1-0 until the second half when Chimienti dribbled the ball through the defense and beat the goalkeeper.

The Ambassadors' next home game is at 5:30 p.m., May 29 at Palo Alto High against the Tucson Amigos.
