Special to the Town Crier
The Chefs Who Care program returns after an absence of several months with Picnic in the Park, sponsored by Armadillo Willy's. The event will from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., be June 14 in Mountain View's Cuesta Park.
Chefs Who Care benefits the Community Services Agency in Mountain View. Proceeds from the dinners go to the nonprofit agency's Food and Nutrition Center.
For the Picnic in the Park event, the committee is preparing for 200 to 250 diners to enjoy an evening of Armadillo Willy's baby back ribs and barbecue chicken, peanut cole slaw, potato salad, cornbread muffins, and iced tea. There will be Entertainment and face painting for children.
"We get a lot of requests for donations and food, and this is the year (the agency) needs help," said John Berwald, owner of Armadillo Willy's. "To do this makes me feel good." The agency is in need of additional donations due to cutbacks in United Way funding.
The cost of the Picnic at the Park is $17, of which $10 will benefit the agency. Reservations are preferred and may be made prior to June 4 by check to Chefs Who Care at Community Services Agency, 204 Stierlin Road, Mountain View, CA 94043. Without prior reservations, the cost of the picnic is $19.
The Chefs Who Care committee has established dates for future dinners. Chefs Who Care will be featured at Mac's American Grill on Aug. 9, and at Michael's at Shoreline Restaurant on Sept. 13.
