Town Crier Staff Report

** missed drop char **The possible reconfiguration of Almond School's boundaries has sparked the most public comment within the Los Altos School District community and contains the least consensus in the boundary committee's four scenarios.

The neighborhood currently included within Almond's boundary of Springer Road, Vista Grande Avenue, Mountain View Avenue and Hollingsworth Drive would be shifted to the Loyola School boundary in all four scenarios. The area bounded by San Antonio Road, Cuesta Drive, El Monte Road, Hawthorne Avenue, N. Gordon Avenue and E. Edith Avenue would shift from Almond to the Covington School boundary under the four scenarios.

The current Almond boundaries are as follows:

North: Showers

South: Cuesta Drive, El Monte Road, Hawthorne

East: Springer Road, Gillmore, Mountain View, El Camino Real, Alicia Way, Ortega Avenue

West: San Antonio Road

The four scenarios proposed by the boundary committee and one neighborhood guest group proposal would change the Almond School boundaries as follows:

Scenario 1,3,4 X (see map)

North: Showers

South: Almond Avenue, between Gordon and Sunkist Lane to Osage

East: Springer Road, Alicia Way, El Camino, Ortega

West: San Antonio Road

The two neighborhood pockets that include Coral Court and Blinn Court would go to Springer School.

The proposal includes a possible grandfather clause that could allow students in grades 4, 5 and 6 living in the southern area bounded by Almond, San Antonio, East Edith Avenue, N. Gordon, Hawthorne Ave. and Springer Road, to choose to attend Almond or Covington schools.

Scenario 2:

North: Showers

South: Almond Avenue, between Gordon and Sunkist Land to the end of Osage, just below Clark Court

East: Springer Road, Alicia Way, El Camino, Ortega,

West: San Antonio Road

The new Almond boundaries would run east along E. Edith Avenue to N. Clark, south down to Hawthorne up to S. Clark Avenue and then cut toward Springer Road in the area between Camellia Way and Springer Terrace and turn north and run parallel to Springer up to Jay Street.

Some neighborhood pockets within the area bounded by Camellia Way, Blinn Court and Springer Road would not be included in the Almond School boundary.

Scenario 5:

North: Showers

South: E. Edith Avenue to N. Gordon Avenue down to the bottom of Osage Avenue up through Barbara and Rinconada to El Monte

East: Springer Road, Alicia Way, El Camino, Ortega

West: San Antonio Road

Scenario 6:

North: Showers

South: E. Edith Avenue, N. Gordon Avenue, Hawthorne Avenue, between Osage and Avalon to Clark

East: Springer Road

West: San Antonio Road

Some neighborhood pockets within the area bounded by Camellia Way, Blinn Court and Springer Road would not be included in the Almond School boundary.

Guest Group #1:

North : Showers

South : E. Edith Avenue, N. Gordon Avenue, Hawthorne Avenue, up El Monte Road to Clark Avenue, across Riviera

East : Alicia Way, El Camino, Ortega

West: Springer Road
